The Fitzgerald Hotel is the absolute best value in terms of location. We are located less than five minutes from Union Square and the Powell Street cable car. The hotel is also within 20 minutes walk to major San Francisco attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf, the Ferry Building, Chinatown, the MoMA, and historic North Beach.
The Fitzgerald is a 10 minute walk to the Powell Street BART/Muni station for easy access to both San Francisco and Oakland International Airports. We are also close to dozens of San Francisco Muni bus lines that can whisk you away to further flung attractions like, the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, AT&T Park, and the Mission.

PARKING CONVENIENCe
The Fitzgerald Hotel does not have it’s own private parking parking lot or garage. We partner with California Parking, located just around the corner at 840 Sutter Street. They offer a discounted rate to Fitzgerald Hotel guests starting at $25 per night. We recommend contacting California Parking for availability and advanced booking at 415-468-4860.
You could certainly try to find street parking but, beware that like most major American cities, parking in San Francisco can be difficult.
For your convenience, we have a designated loading zone in front of the hotel. The loading zone is marked with white paint on the curb and allows you 15 minutes to unload your bags and for checking in.
FROM SFO AND OAKLAND AIRPORTS
If you are flying into San Francisco International Airport, we recommend booking an airport shuttle with our friends at Airport Express. The shuttle is the most direct way to get from the terminal to our front door and is available from 4:30 AM until 10 PM every day. At the airport, the shuttles have their own designated stops. You don’t need to book a shuttle, one comes through the terminals every 30 minutes. For your peace of mind, if you’d prefer to book in advance, Airport Express can be reached at 415-775-5121. The Fitzgerald also has a special rate worked out with Airport Express for only $10 per person, each way.
You can also take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from SFO for about $9. There is a BART station adjacent to SFO, just follow the signs in the terminal. There is only one line that serves the airport, just make sure you’re heading in the right direction toward San Francisco. Get off at Powell Street station, it is approximately a 10 minute walk from the BART station to the Fitzgerald. See the walking directions below
If you are coming from Oakland International Airport, your best bet is BART. BART from the Oakland Airport to Powell Street costs just over $10. Airport Express offers service from Oakland Airport as well but they DO NOT offer the special rate and you would have to book a ride with them.
FROM POWELL STREET BART STATION
The quickest way to the Fitzgerald from Powell Street BART is to turn right on Cyril Magnin Street, walk two blocks to O’Farrell Street and then make a left on O’Farrell. Walk a half of a block down O’Farrell and then turn right onto Mason Street. Walk two more blocks up Mason to Post Street and turn left onto Post. Walk one block up Post to Taylor Street. Cross Taylor and the Fitzgerald Hotel will be on the right hand side at 620 Post Street. The whole walk should take about 10 minutes.
